Visual Identity Program

The inspiration for the design came from PHBB's "think global, act global" mindset. The green and blue colors reflect this mindset, while the red, yellow, and black colors represent the University of Maryland origins and their founding chapter. The circle in the middle of the colors represents unity and the organization's global mindset, emphasizing the importance of partnerships and relationships.

The visual identity program for PHBB is unique in its approach. It is designed to be appropriate for an international public health organization, conveying credibility, global reach, cleanliness, and safety. The design is also scalable, flexible, and modular, with a detachable symbol that can represent the brand consistently over time. It enables lockups with sponsorships and other partners, ensuring a cohesive brand presence.

The logo is simple yet impactful, working well in a variety of sizes and media. It can also be used in a one-color version. The wordmark is visually matched with the University of Maryland's primary typefaces, further establishing the connection to the institution.

The visual identity program was developed remotely, starting in October 2020 and finishing in February 2021. Despite the distance, the design successfully captures the essence of PHBB's mission and values.

This design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 in the category of Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design. The award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. It highlights the integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
